Junior achieves top ACT score

Deep uses practice tests to prepare for exam
A student at LSMSA was recently notified that he earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36.

Two weeks prior to the test date, Jayaditya Deep, a junior from Natchitoches, took a few practice tests from a test prep book to prepare. After each practice test, he looked over what areas he had trouble in and focused on those.

“Coming out of the test, I knew I had done about the same as in my practice tests,” said Deep. “I don’t want to say I was ‘surprised’ when I got the results, rather, just happy.”

On average, only around one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2017, only 2,760 out of more than two million graduates who took the ACT earned a composite score of 36.

The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each scored on a scale of 1-36. A student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores.

“Jayaditya came to us exceptionally well-prepared for our academic rigor and expectations,” said Dr. Kristi Key, director of academic services at LSMSA. “His success on the ACT exam reflects both his natural talents and his dedication to his academic pursuits.

“We are very proud of his accomplishments and have no doubt that he will be successful in his collegiate pursuits moving forward.”
