Begin the application process.

Freshmen, sophomores and juniors who want to attend LSMSA, instructions regarding the components of the application process are listed below.

(Note: Once you begin the application process, a Progress Page with a Checklist will be created for you in our online application system. Most of the steps are completed by accessing that checklist.)

  • Complete and submit the online application.

    • The application contains sections which must be completed by the applicant and the parent/guardian.
    • Priority deadline for applications is April 1st.
  • Register to take the ACT or the SAT.

    • If taking the ACT, we recommend the December 8th or February 9th test dates.
    • If taking the SAT, we recommend the December 1st or March 9th test dates.  
    • When registering for either test, please be sure to use code 6351 in the four-digit space for reports to colleges and scholarship programs. This code will ensure that your test scores will be sent to LSMSA in a timely manner.
  • Submit LEAP/EOC scores.

    • Upload copies of your score reports or ask your guidance counselor to fax or email copies of any recent LEAP/EOC scores to Enrollment Services.
  • Request letters of recommendation.

    • Complete the online request for letters of recommendation from a principal or guidance counselor, a math teacher and an English teacher.
  • Submit your transcript.

    • After winter break, request an official mid-year transcript from your guidance counselor and ask that it be sent to LSMSA. Students applying to enroll at LSMSA as sophomores may send a copy of their first semester report cards.
  • Visit LSMSA.

    • Make plans to attend one of our Exploration Days so that you and your family can learn more about LSMSA. We'll be offering Exploration Days on November 12th, January 21st, and February 18th
    • If you'll be unable to attend an Exploration Day, set up a tour by contacting the Enrollment Services Office.
  • Complete an interview.

    • Once your application is complete, we'll contact you to schedule a time for an interview. Most of our interviews are completed over the phone, so it will not require that you come to campus.
It's a good idea to keep copies of all documents pertaining to your application for your records.

Campus Visit Information

All applicants must visit the campus at least once during the application process. Attending an Exploration Day is the very best way to experience LSMSA as you will see the campus in action, sit in on classes and meet other prospective students. However, individual campus visits are available to those in the application process.
