Logan Bertrand ('20) named a USABO semifinalist.

One of two in the state of Louisiana!
On Feb. 5, 2019, 22 LSMSA biology students took the USA Biology Olympiad Exam. This exam is for any high school biology student and consists of 50 multiple choice questions that cover many different topics in biology such as genetics, animal anatomy, and plant physiology.

This year, more than 10,000 students from 45 different states in addition to several international schools outside the US  took the exam. The top 10% of students who take the exam are named semi-finalists and progress to the next exam given in March.

Logan Bertrand ('20), of Elton, was one of the only 2 semifinalists in Louisiana. Bertrand just took the semi-final exam and will receive his results in April. The top 20 students on the semifinal exam are invited to attend a training session at a host university that culminates in a two-day exam. Then the top four Finalists are invited to attend the International Biology Olympiad that will be held this year in Hungary.
