“Everyone who is in FBLA really cares about the club,” said Johnson. “This is my third year in it, including some years at my old school. I feel like everyone at LSMSA has an advantage over other schools because we take higher level courses, and that prepares us better for the tests.”

“Honestly, LSMSA prepares them so well for this competition because of the overall education and curriculum,” said Human Resources Officer and FBLA Club Sponsor Sheila Kidd. “Many of the students are already comfortable with public speaking and have the maturity to handle these kinds of events.

“I am proud and excited for these students and am looking forward to the state competition.”

FBLA works to prepare high school students for business careers through academic competitions, educational programming and leadership development.

FBLA is one of more than 50 student clubs and organizations offered at LSMSA. The school is currently accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year. The application for enrollment is free and online at
