LSMSA Connections with LA's Film Industry

The April issue of Scene Magazine has several LSMSA connections.  Micah Haley (Class of 2002), is head writer and copy editor for "Louisiana's Entertainment Magazine", a monthly publication on the film industry in the state, and the April issue includes an interview by Chris Jay (Class of 1998) with David Beier (Class of 2002).  Beier's short film "You Better Run" has received national attention, including the Filmmakers' Choice Award (1st Prize) at the San Diego Black Film Festival.

LSMSA graduates continue film studies at the nation's top programs, including the University of Southern California and New York University (Tisch School), and are finding work in directing, acting, writing, and production.  In addition to the comprehensive education at LSMSA that encourages creativity and critical thinking, the LSMSA curriculum now includes digital media courses.  The newly renovated arts facilities and equipment support opportunities for students to study and create short films.  Work is almost complete on a collaborative film project between LSMSA and a school in Italy that is being sponsored by Sci-Port in Shreveport.&nb
