Giftie Alumni Explosion on Facebook 03/01/2009 »

Catherine Credeur (LSMSAAA officer), reports a significant increase in giftie alumni on Facebook in the last six months.  There are several active groups whose memberships include a mix of current and alumni gifties, including LSMSA, Caddo Hall, Prudhomme Hall, and Past and Present Gifties UNITE.  Alumni are also establishing class groups to facilitate reunion planning. If you are a Facebook member, make sure that your profile lists your affiliation with the “Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts” and your class year. This will make it easier to find and “friend” your giftie pals.

LinkedIn is another networking tool with a focus on professional opportunities and advancement - http://www.linkedin.com/  There is now an LSMSA group available for all LSMSA alumni, currently with 375 members.  Alumni e-mails from the school's database were loaded in as pre-approved.  There is also an easy way to request membership.

Speaking of databases, if you haven't visited Alumni Central under the Alumni Section of the school's website in a while, you will notice new search features.  You may now search the entire alumni database by last name, maiden name, city, state, zip code, and year of graduation.  It is also easy to update your information, add a photo, and send e-mails.
