May 2010 Howdy Future Eagles, Here at LSMSA, it’s time for finals, and everyone is filled with a mix of anxiety and hopefulness. Taking finals at LSMSA is rather like climbing a mountain. It can be a hard, laborious journey to the end, but once you’ve finished, you’re filled with a sense of accomplishment and relief than you can’t find anywhere else. The final I fear the most, you ask? Dance. Surprising, no? For modern dance, we have to choreograph and perform our own dances, and I’m a bit embarrassed to admit I have a bit of stage fright. Theatre, I can handle. But there is just something about dancing in front of a group that gives me butterflies. The weather is nice here, for once. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it hasn’t rained in almost 3 weeks. Of course, given my luck, it’ll start raining in ten minutes because I jinxed it. Sadly, things seem to be winding down here, as the school year comes to a close. And, with that being said, I have less and less to talk about (that’s a first.) So, until next time! Ciao! Logan Faust
That’s a line from our upcoming production of See How They Run. Yes, indeed, a whole semester’s work now behind us, it has now come time for our Theatre Rep to put on our spring play, which I am in. I must say, I am oh-so-excited; however, all that glitters is not gold. True, the rehearsal and work has been fun, but now that we’ve entered Tech Week, rehearsals have been extended to 4 hours instead of two. It sounds bad, but I love it! What could be more fun than doing theatre all night, right? That being said, me little outburst above is also one of distress. See, I also have a lovely research paper on child labor looming over my head. So, it’s a little rough to have to juggle so many huge projects. But, as long as I stay on the schedule I set, and manage my time, I’ll get through it. What does help is that on Tuesday, Glee started back up. As an admitted Gleek, this was a huge deal for me. Sadly, I had to miss it because I was in rehearsal… Oh well, that’s what the internet is for. What’s even better is that on next Tuesday, Fox is going to combine two of my biggest obsessions: Glee and Madonna. That’s right kiddos, The Power of Madonna (gotta love that episode title)! But, I can’t sit here typing about it all day, I have a paper to write and a play to rehearse! Wish me luck! Oh, what a hectic month it has been. Four tests and one paper, along with Junior Reparatory Theatre Rehearsals, have kept me on my toes. The tests were in Chemistry, American History, Calculus I, and American Literature, and the paper is in American Lit. But, at least being busy keeps me from being bored (I don’t have the time to be bored!) Two weeks ago, we got the heaviest snowfall I’ve ever seen, and, considering that it was all over the nation, I assume you did too. IT was quite a site to see all of LSMSA’s campus covered in snowball-fighting lunch ladies, snowman-building faculty, and, of course, snow-loving students. Sadly, it melted within two days. Oh well, beggars can’t bee choosers, I suppose. And, before I go, I think I’ll tell a quick Calculus joke, quoted form the ever-hilarious Mr. Andersen. “So, you have to derive the equation all the way, which is where they got that saying from…” Class: “What saying?” “Oh, well, two surfers who loved to do math were doing derivatives in the sand, and one of them corrected the other, saying ‘Dude, you gotta derive the whole thing. Y’know, like, totally, dude…’ And from then on out, surfers have always said ‘totally, dude…” Props to Mr. Andersen for that one. Until next month, Logan Faust
