The Louisiana School's new student orientation (NSO) program is a multi-day event held at the end of the spring semester. NSO is designed to help new students and families with a successful transition to LSMSA.
Returning students selected to serve as ambassadors lead new students throughout NSO. Our ambassadors help new students get oriented to their new home-away-from-home, meet new friends, and understand the challenges of success in our rigorous academic community.
Our counseling center and registrar's office staffs highlight their services, as well as introduce students to their new responsibilities regarding academic advising and college counseling. Students meet their faculty advisors to plan class schedules for the fall semester. They also learn about our work service program and apply for available positions.
Our athletics, health services, residential life, and student development staffs highlight their programs, as well as introduce students to our many opportunities for guided independence and leadership development. Students meet our student life advisors and learn about various aspects of community living.
A one-day program with informational sessions for families is also held during NSO.
NSO for the 2010-2011 academic year is scheduled for Friday, May 28 through Monday, May 31, 2010.
NSO is coordinated by the student affairs office, with the collaborative support of our counseling center, registrar's office, and faculty members.
